The Stern Team works hard – and when you work hard, you work up some pretty big appetites!! We wanted to start highlighting some of the restaurants that we frequent! Today we’re talking about Caffe Molise in downtown Salt Lake City. Caffé Molise is a full service restaurant featuring fresh Italian cuisine with a focus on regional specialties and local ingredients. It’s centrally located and has a fantastic dining room atmosphere!
Alex was more than happy to volunteer for this adventure and he personally chose Caffe Molise. He’s a big fan of this place, from the attention to detail and care put into the food to the attentive staff. “The overall atmosphere in the restaurant is one fitting of a fine Italian meal, without feeling the pressure to wear a suit and tie to dinner.”
What did he order? For their appetizer, they ordered the antipasti giorno. It came out on a beautiful spread, with freshly toasted bruschetta and a perfect selection of meats and cheeses. For the main course they had one of the specials of the night, their flat iron steak, and the pappardelle al sugo. The flat iron steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and was served atop a bed of their fresh mashed potatoes and zucchini. The homemade sauce that was made specially for the dish completed it, adding an italian flare to the meal. The pappardelle al sugo is a staff favorite, and features their homemade pasta. The thick cut pasta was paired perfectly with their meat sauce that incorporated pork and beef into the thick sauce.
Finally, the meal ended with their famous tiramisu and chocolate hazelnut mousse cake. The tiramisu’s hints of espresso paired with their lady fingers and Italian cream cheese made for the perfect end to a meal. The chocolate hazelnut mousse cake was rich in flavor, and surely hard to top.
His favorite part of the experience? “While the main meals were incredible, dessert was the highlight of the meal. The tiramisu and chocolate hazelnut mousse cake were incredible. Even after filling up on the appetizer and main dishes, it would have been criminal to leave anything left on the dessert plate.”
